UNITE THE KINGDOM
Tommy Robinson aka Stephen Yaxeley-Lennon, controversial, organised this march for the same day as the pro-Palestinian Nakba Rally. That day remembers the time in Palestine in 1947-1948 when 700,000 were forced from their homes, or left for their own safety, by the Zionist gangs.
It was a strange event in that it was a different thing for different people - and it wasn’t obvious what they were trying to unite? There were patriotic Britain's proud of their country and flag and others wanting Britain for the British and no immigration and some with goals more sinister. There was also a large contingent of Iranians campaigning for the return of a monarchy to their country in the form of the ex Shaw's son. Goodness knows, but they had to do with uniting the kingdom.
From what I saw, it was all very peaceful, very well stewarded and with many police in attendance, but not my politics.
Photographically it was very disappointing. The crowd was so well contained and packed together it was impossible to get amongst them, I tried my best and these photographs are my favourites from the day.
